Hey, Mike here,
And you’re reading my uncensored review of what I really thought about the Rocket Japanese course.

Why am I writing this? Well, when I was thinking about buying Rocket Japanese, there weren’t many real reviews around so I thought I’d write one quickly to help any of you who are in the same position I was.
But be warned, I’ll be going into both the good and the bad points, so if that’s something you might not want to hear, then you may as well leave now.

 

This is The Best way to learn Japanese quickly I found. With a one time payment, you get access to everything you’ll need to learn about Japanese. You can simply log on to your member’s area and take the interactive lessons whenever you have the time, download hours of audio files to hear the Japanese language wherever you want and you’ll also get the interactive japanese software so you can have some fun learning without even having to be connected to the internet.

But… I have to be Honest with you, when i imagined what a fairly decent online E-Course should be, THIS IS IT, so it didn’t really blew my mind… The thing is, everyone of the others i checked were just bull#&%…

Truth is, Rocket Languages is a Certified Business that is the leading Specialist in Language E-courses, so the the golden medal is already guaranteed, I only wish they’d greatly surpass my expectations (I don’t know, maybe they were too high to begin with… ) and developed a little more with grammar exercises or something.

A few things to know about the Japanese Language

  • The Japanese language is written with a combination of three scripts: Chinese characters called kanji, and two syllabic (or moraic) scripts made of modified Chinese characters, hiragana and katakana. The Latin alphabet, romaji, is also often used in modern Japanese, especially for company names and logos, advertising, and when entering Japanese text into a computer. Arabic numerals are generally used for numbers, but traditionalSino-Japanese numerals are also commonplace (see Helpful Articles).
  • In Japanese, all vowels are pure, what this means is that you pronounce them differently then you normally would in English.

for example, take my name:
Mike
to write my name properly in romaji in a way it would sound the same in japanese, you would have to write: maiku

  • Remember, Japanese word order is classified as subject–object–verb. However, unlike many Indo-European languages, the only strict rule of word order is that the verb must be placed at the end of a sentence; other elements in the sentence may be in various orders for emphasis, or possibly omitted.
  • One of the most important things you have to memorize when speaking Japanese are the Honorifics. 
The difference between honorific and humble speech is particularly pronounced in the Japanese language. Humble language is used to talk about oneself or one’s own group (company, family) whilst honorific language is mostly used when describing the interlocutor and their group. For example, the -san suffix (“Mr” “Mrs.” or “Miss”) is an example of honorific language.
Common Honorifics are:
  1. -San  (“Mr.”, “Miss”, “Mrs.”, or “Ms.”, san is almost universally added to a person’s name, in both formal and informal contexts. However, in addition to being used with people’s names, it is also employed in a variety of other ways.)
  2.  -Chan ( used for babies, young children, grandparents and teenage girls. It may also be used towards cute animals, lovers, close friends, or any youthful woman. It can be used for males in some circumstances, but in general this use is rather condescending or intimate.)
  3.  -Kun ( used by persons of senior status in addressing or referring to those of junior status, or by anyone when addressing or referring to male children or male teenagers. It can also be used by females when addressing a male that they are emotionally attached to or have known for a long period of time. Although kun is generally used for boys, that is not a hard rule.)
  4.  -Sama (a markedly more respectful version of san. It is used mainly to refer to people much higher in rank than oneself, toward one’s customers, and sometimes toward people one greatly admires. When used to refer to oneself, sama expresses extreme arrogance)

After realizing my obvious lack of time and money, i turned to trying to learn Japanese online trough free websites, and they really helped me to get a solid idea of the language, but honestly, they were boring as hell and soon i was desiring something more…

I devoured those free courses, but like anything free I could only learn so much, so i tried some Learning Japanese software  and audio tapes. now THESE did the trick, they were fun, interactive and bit by bit they were teaching me something, but soon i realized that collecting volumes of these software’s was more expensive than real life lessons, so these too didn’t work because I was spending a small fortune and i got no real credit from accomplishing the module’s milestones (i could as well be watching a movie).

So… once again i searched the web until i found exactly what i was looking for:

Learn Japanese Fast – why I needed

Ever since I was a boy, I always loved 2 things, Japanese animations and martial arts. Needless to say, those passions evolved and i stopped watching the translated cartoons that showed on TV and i started to watch online the original versions in Japanese with english subtitles. At the same time, i started to practice martial arts, I started with karate, but soon I switched to more advanced ones like Aikido and even Kendo and Iaido, so the need to learn Japanese was rising.

As time passed I started to pick up on a few words and sentences from watching anime and i fell in love with the Japanese culture, so, with that passion being pushed by my need to understand the names of the moves I was learning in my classes, I decided it was time to upgrade my curriculum by learning Japanese.

The problem was, i didn’t have the schedule or the financial relief to take those lessons (where i live, Japanese lessons range from 80$ to 150$ a month, for 6 to 10 months) and i didn’t have much of a choice because Japanese is a hard language to find around here and there were only 3 classes to choose from…

So, I needed to Learn Japanese and I needed Fast because I was loosing track of all the weird names I had to memorized for my martial arts class. And to be honest, i never liked waiting, so i had to take this chance now before something else came up and robbed me from the little time I had…
